DETROIT ARSENAL

MESSAGE FROM BRIG. GEN. WERNER

This message was originally sent Monday, June 22, 2020

Teammates,

First off, let me say I'm proud and honored to lead this great organization and be a member of the Detroit Arsenal Team. This is truly one of the finest organizations, well known throughout the Army for its dedicated and professional workforce. Together we can continue to maintain this amazing tradition of excellence.

In a first for TACOM, we held a virtual Change of Command ceremony on the 12th of June. It was locally attended mostly by immediate family members due to COVID-19 social distancing restrictions. I hope you had a chance to view the live stream video.

Like many other TACOM and Detroit Arsenal team members, I'm a native of Michigan. In 1988, I commissioned from the Central Michigan University ROTC program. My most recent assignment as the Commanding General for the 13th Expeditionary Sustainment Command at Fort Hood and three previous assignments in AMC gave me a great appreciation and perspective of your valued contributions to Army readiness. Thank you! Together, we will continue to do great things for the Army and our Soldiers in support of our nation. With our partner organizations, we're an amazing team of professionals dedicated to the needs of the Soldier.

As we initiate conditions-based return to the workplace activities, senior leaders and supervisors will take deliberate steps to determine who needs to return to the Depots, Arsenals, or offices and who can or should continue teleworking.

I challenge our leaders at all levels to also listen to our people. We understand the importance of taking care of people and treating every person with dignity and respect because people are our greatest strength. I expect leaders at all levels to set the example and reinforce COVID-19 guidelines.

I will host a town hall on 1 July and I look forward to meeting and engaging with you virtually.

Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to the U.S. Army and our nation.

It's great to be a part of this committed team of professionals!

Committed to Excellence!
